Well, I have been following Mel Robbins, someone who I've just discovered and admire deeply! I was watching a YouTube video of Oprah giving 10 Rules to Success and stumbled across Mel's videos... This Lady is REALLY onto something with her 5 Second Rule.
Mel, you will probably never read through my Blog, but I do want to say, "Thank you for your 5 Second Rule. I've been using it through many areas of my life and achieving improvements! I've changed my mornings and no longer sleep with my phone in my bedroom! I never knew how many things I could get accomplished before going to bed... All I have to do is say "No" to the distractions... "5-4-3-2-1-No!"
Hi friends and family! I've been changing a few things in my life since I've discovered Mel Robbins. She has given me a new found freedom. I'm saying "Yes" to myself on so many levels!! I am doing so much more to reach my God given destiny. I have many gifts that God has bestowed upon me; many gifts that I haven't even put into use yet! But I also have to remain focused! Trying to do too many things at one time will have me doing a whole lot of nothing!
I am starting to test the waters of these gifts though… They're not new to me, they're just newly used. Have you ever felt like you just KNEW you could do something greater than what you were doing?
Have you ever felt like you could do something although you've never done it before? I remember when I was 13 years old my father picked me up early from school early and stopped at the bank on the way home. I hadn't been feeling well that day, so I stayed lying down in the car while he went inside. I hadn't realized my Dad blocked someone's car in.
The blaring horn woke me. I looked at the angry man in the other car and laid back down. I then heard knocking, then banging on the window as he wanted my attention. This stranger wanted me to open my Daddy's car door to let him in so he could move our car which was blocking him in.
Well, anyone who knows me knows I wasn't opening that car door to a stranger! Besides, I felt I could move Daddy's car out of this man's way, and park in his parking spot too! I climbed over to my Daddy's seat, backed the car up and let the man pull his car out. I swooped right into his spot, got back in my seat and went back to sleep! I had never been behind the wheel of a car before, well, maybe as a baby sitting on my Daddy's lap while he drove and I pretended to be driving...
That's just one incident where I felt I could do something and when I tried it, I succeeded. But now I ask myself, why have I stopped trying to do the things I know I can do? What am I afraid of? That is the question!! I have no idea... I do know that once I hesitate, all movements towards the next level come to a halt; then I begin to start doubting myself...
Well, now I have a secret weapon, thanks to Mel Robbins! I count backwards from 5 just before I blast off and "Just Do It! 5-4-3-2-1-NOW!" That's what I tell myself! I'm not sure why it works, you'll have to check out Mel Robbins on her YouTube Channel to get answers to the "why" in it, I just know that it does work!!
I'm starting small; I bought Mel's book, I follow her on my social websites and I entered a competition she just posted regarding #MyBiggestFear @melrobbinslive so I'm really getting into this #5SecondRule thing because I feel so invigorated just for using this rule in my life. I'm opening myself up to opportunities, something that scares the hell out of me! But there's an excitement to this type of fear! I want to be a Life Coach! There! I said it! My dreams and blessings with help me to be a blessing to someone else! Possibly my Church! The Bigger I get, the Bigger I can help them to get!
